My international flight should land at 8:05 at Delhi on Sunday and my domestic flight is scheduled at 14:30. I would like to visit the city as 6 hour seems like lots of time. I dont need to check in or hand over luggae. I just need to get through security there and back. Am I naive? Does it make sense? When shall I arrive to Delhi to get back through the security?

You’re not naïve, but you’re cutting it close—so keep expectations realistic. Yes, 6 hours sounds like a lot, but after immigration you’ll realistically have ~2–2.5 hours outside the airport.

Delhi traffic is unpredictable, so Metro is your safest bet, not a cab.

You should aim to leave the city by ~12:15 pm and be back at the airport by 12:30–12:45 pm for your 14:30 domestic flight. This plan only works if you don’t have check-in luggage and already have your boarding pass.

Stick to one compact area (Connaught Place, Lodhi Art District, etc.).

Don’t attempt Old Delhi or anything too spread out. Think of it as a taste, not sightseeing.

If you want ideas that actually make sense between flights, this guide may help. Bottom line: doable, smart if planned well, stressful if over-ambitious.
